William Bret Baier, born on August 4, 1970, in Red Bank, New Jersey, is a Fox News anchor and host of 'Special Report with Bret Baier,' a flagship evening news program he has hosted since 2009. He also serves as the network's chief political anchor. Raised in Atlanta, Georgia, after his family relocated there, Baier graduated from DePauw University in Greencastle, Indiana, with a Bachelor of Arts degree in political science and English. His early journalism career began at local station WJWJ TV-16 on Hilton Head Island, South Carolina, followed by a role at WRAL-TV, the CBS affiliate in Raleigh, North Carolina. Baier joined Fox News Channel in 1998, initially serving as the network's Chief White House Correspondent and Pentagon correspondent.
