About
Benny Landa, born on June 2, 1946, is an Israeli entrepreneur, inventor, and businessperson renowned as the 'father of commercial digital printing.' He pursued an eclectic education, studying physics and engineering at the Technion in Israel, psychology and literature at the Hebrew University of Jerusalem, and graduating from the London Film School. As a young man, Landa invented a mixer for photographic chemicals using rubber tubing and an electric motor from an old phonograph. He began his professional career in 1969 at CAPS, a micrographics research company, where he played a key role in developing an innovative micrographic product that secured a major contract with Rolls-Royce Aero Engine Division, leading to his appointment as head of Research and Development. At age 30, he moved to Israel and founded Indigo Digital Press in 1977, inventing core imaging technologies including ElectroInk during research on liquid toners. His innovations have significantly impacted the print production industry, establishing him as a pioneer in digital printing technologies. In 2003, he established The Landa Group, which includes Landa Corporation, and he serves as a board member at Gencell Ltd. Landa is also a member of the World Jewish Congress.
