About
Barry Hinckley is an American entrepreneur, technology executive, and former political candidate with a diverse background in software, maritime industries, aviation, and offshore sailing. Born into the Hinckley family associated with Hinckley Yachts, he began working at the family-related Bass Harbor Marine in eighth grade and later in sales, including opening a Hinckley/BHM office in Newport, Rhode Island, in 1992. The 1991 luxury tax on boats prompted a shift to technology in Boston, where in 1999 he co-founded Bullhorn Software, serving as its president. The company grew to employ over 175 people, and Hinckley was recognized as one of Boston's 40 Under 40 businessmen and a 2009 finalist for Ernst & Young Entrepreneur of the Year. He is a Coast Guard-certified Merchant Mariner and licensed Florida Yacht Broker. A graduate of Deerfield Academy (class of 1984) and the University of Colorado, Boulder, Hinckley entered politics as a Republican candidate for U.S. Senate in Rhode Island in 2012, though unsuccessful. He later served as Interim Executive Director of Project Veritas following James O'Keefe's departure. Currently, Hinckley is President of Blue Ops, Inc., a Red Cat Holdings division focused on uncrewed surface vessels, leveraging his expertise in enterprise software and maritime operations.
