Bader Mohammed Al-Sa'ad, born on January 4, 1958, in Kuwait, is a prominent Kuwaiti financier and former Managing Director of the Kuwait Investment Authority (KIA), where he served from December 2003 to April 2017 as a key figure in Kuwait's sovereign wealth management and global investment strategy. He graduated from Kuwait University with a major in accounting and began his career at the Bank of Kuwait and the Middle East (now Ahli United Bank) from 1981 to 1997, followed by serving as Managing Director of the Kuwait Financial Centre (Markaz) from 1997 to 2003. During his KIA tenure, he also served on the Board of Directors and as Chairman of its Executive Committee until 2021, overseeing investments in the Future Generation Fund and General Reserve Fund, and was involved in numerous domestic and international boards, including Kuwait Petroleum Corporation. Al-Sa'ad has held significant international leadership roles, including Deputy Chairman of the International Forum of Sovereign Wealth Funds (2009-2015) as a founding member, and Independent Director at BlackRock Finance, Inc. (2019-2024). Currently, he serves as Director General and Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Arab Fund for Economic and Social Development (AFESD) since September 2020, Director at the Kuwait Fund for Arab Economic Development, Director at KIA's investment arms, and Member of the Supervisory Board at Daimler Truck AG and Mercedes-Benz AG. His career spans over 40 years in investment and finance, contributing to global economic stability through long-term investments.
