Avraham Yadlin (1926-2012) was a prominent Israeli politician, educator, and economist who served as Minister of Education and Culture (1974-1975) and as Governor of the Bank of Israel (1976-1982). Born in Petah Tikva during the British Mandate period, he began his career in education as a teacher and school principal before entering politics. He was a Knesset member for the Mapai party (later the Alignment) from 1961 to 1974. As Minister of Education under Prime Minister Yitzhak Rabin, he focused on educational reforms and promoting Jewish-Arab coexistence in schools. His tenure was cut short in 1975 amid a political crisis. As Governor of the Bank of Israel, he navigated economic challenges including high inflation and the aftermath of the Yom Kippur War, emphasizing monetary stability and fiscal policy reforms. Yadlin held moderate socialist views aligned with the Labor Party and was the father of Amos Yadlin, a notable Israeli military intelligence officer. He passed away in 2012, leaving a legacy in Israeli education, politics, and finance.
