Assaf Rappaport (born August 28, 1983) is an Israeli-American entrepreneur and cybersecurity executive. He is best known as the co-founder and former chief executive officer of Wiz, a prominent cloud security company that provides continuous security assessments for cloud environments and achieved unicorn status with a valuation of over $10 billion under his leadership. In March 2025, Alphabet Inc. announced its intention to acquire Wiz for approximately US$32 billion, a deal that would represent the largest acquisition of an Israeli technology company to date if completed.
A serial entrepreneur with deep roots in Israeli tech, Rappaport's early career included service in Unit 8200, the elite cyber unit of the Israeli Defense Forces (IDF intelligence), where he gained foundational cybersecurity expertise. He later co-founded Adallom, a cybersecurity startup where he served as CTO, which was acquired by Microsoft in 2015. Following the acquisition, he became the General Manager of Microsoft's Israel Research and Development (R&D) Center. Rappaport is also a co-founder of Wix.com, an Israeli web development platform, and a co-founder of Team8 alongside Lior Div. He previously served as CEO of Imperva, a web application security company, bringing extensive experience in cybersecurity leadership.
His background in Unit 8200 has been influential in his cybersecurity ventures, connecting him to a network of alumni including figures like Nir Zuk, co-founder of Palo Alto Networks. Rappaport is recognized as an LGBTQ rights activist, contributing to advocacy efforts in Israel and beyond. Operating primarily from Israel, his work exemplifies the country's thriving 'Startup Nation' ecosystem, and his career highlights the intersection of military intelligence, entrepreneurship, and international tech mergers.
