About
Arthur B. Robinson is an American biochemist, conservative activist, and political figure. He earned his Ph.D. in chemistry from the California Institute of Technology and held faculty positions at the University of California, San Diego, and Stanford University. He was a co-founder of the Linus Pauling Institute, but later departed due to disagreements over its direction. Robinson is best known as the founder and president of the Oregon Institute of Science and Medicine (OISM), a private research organization. He is a prominent figure in climate change denial circles, having organized the 'Oregon Petition' (also known as the Global Warming Petition Project), which asserts that there is no convincing scientific evidence that human release of greenhouse gases is causing or will cause catastrophic heating of the Earth's atmosphere. He has also been involved in other controversial scientific and political stances, including opposition to water fluoridation. A staunch conservative, Robinson has run multiple times as a Republican candidate for the U.S. House of Representatives in Oregon's 4th congressional district, though he has not been elected. His work at OISM focuses on areas such as nutrition, radiation hormesis, and the development of a 'nuclear waste burner' reactor.
