Andrew Heyward is an American media executive born on October 29, 1950, in New York. He is the son of Dick Heyward, a deputy executive director at UNICEF, and Elisabeth Heyward, a Russian-born interpreter. Heyward graduated magna cum laude from Harvard University with a B.A. in history and literature. He began his career in local news at WNEW-TV and WCBS-TV in New York before joining CBS News, where he served as executive producer of The CBS Evening News and developed and launched the award-winning primetime program 48 Hours, which premiered in January 1988. From January 1996 to early November 2005, Heyward was President of CBS News, overseeing major developments in broadcast journalism during a transformative period for the network. After leaving CBS, he became a principal at MarketspaceNext and founded Heyward Advisory LLC, focusing on media consulting. Heyward later transitioned into children's entertainment as CEO of Genius Brands International, emphasizing educational and family-oriented content. He has maintained professional partnerships, including with Haim Saban in media ventures.
