About
Amelia Katzen is a veteran attorney with over two decades of experience in environmental law enforcement, including as Senior Enforcement Counsel at the United States Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), specializing in regulatory enforcement and compliance with environmental regulations. Earlier in her career, she focused on commercial real estate law, working in the Boston office of Sullivan & Worcester, followed by stints at Kassler & Feuer and Hassman & Rackstein. She spent approximately twenty years at the New England Legal Foundation (also associated with Pioneer New England Legal Foundation), addressing issues such as emergency response laws. In her current role, she serves as General Counsel and Vice President of Jewish News Service Inc. (JNS). Katzen has held leadership roles in pro-Israel organizations, including as director of the Committee for Accuracy in Middle East Reporting and Analysis (CAMERA), where JNS publisher Russell Pergament also serves on the board, and possibly as treasurer in a prior role. She has faced criticism from outlets like Mondoweiss, which described JNS as peddling 'neocon propaganda' and labeled CAMERA as an Islamophobic media watchdog. Her professional network includes connections in legal, environmental, and media advocacy sectors, with documented ties to figures like Alex Traiman.
