About
Alexander Emerick 'Alex' Jones (born February 11, 1974, in Dallas, Texas) is an American far-right radio show host, conspiracy theorist, media personality, filmmaker, author, and political activist. He is best known as the founder and former host of InfoWars, a website and media platform that promotes conspiracy theories, alternative news, and far-right ideologies. Jones began his career in the 1990s in Austin, Texas, hosting a public-access cable television program called 'The Final Edition' and later transitioning to radio at KJFK-FM in 1996, where he hosted 'The Final Edition' on KJFK (98.9 FM). His show, The Alex Jones Show, syndicated through the Genesis Communications Network, became one of the longest-running online news and politics talk shows, reaching millions via radio, internet streams, and video platforms, and is now broadcast from Austin, Texas. Jones has produced independent films such as 'Police State 2000,' 'America Destroyed by Design' (1998), and 'Endgame: Blueprint for Global Enslavement' (2007), which espouse his views on globalist conspiracies, New World Order, and government overreach, and contributed to films like 'Waking Life' and 'A Scanner Darkly.' He gained national prominence in the 2000s for promoting theories like the 9/11 attacks being an inside job, the Oklahoma City bombing as a false flag, and chemtrails, marking his shift away from mainstream credibility toward leading a growing fringe audience focused on conspiracy theories about globalist cabals and government cover-ups. Jones has been a vocal critic of mainstream media, vaccines, and institutions like the United Nations and Council on Foreign Relations. His rhetoric often includes anti-government sentiments, election denialism (particularly regarding the 2020 U.S. election), and associations with white nationalist and extremist figures. He supported Donald Trump's 2016 presidential campaign and has interviewed or collaborated with controversial personalities. However, his career has been marred by deplatforming from major social media sites in 2018 for hate speech and misinformation, leading to the shutdown of InfoWars' presence on YouTube, Facebook, and Twitter (now X). In recent years, Jones has faced severe financial repercussions from defamation lawsuits related to his false claims about the Sandy Hook Elementary School shooting, resulting in bankruptcy filings for InfoWars in 2022. Throughout his career, Jones has been accused of spreading dangerous misinformation that incites violence and harassment, including Pizzagate and QAnon-related theories. He has been criticized by civil rights groups, fact-checkers, and lawmakers for promoting racism, antisemitism, and Islamophobia. Despite legal setbacks, Jones continues to operate through alternative platforms like Banned.Video and maintains a loyal following in far-right circles. His personal life includes multiple marriages, including to Erika Wulff, and family involvement in his media ventures, and he has expressed evangelical Christian beliefs while identifying with American nationalist culture. He is known for his bombastic style and has been a prominent figure in promoting theories on topics ranging from government cover-ups to international plots, solidifying his role as a key voice in alternative media despite widespread condemnation for promoting disinformation.
