About
Alberto Pinto (1943–2023) was a French interior designer born in Casablanca, Morocco, to Moroccan Sephardic Jewish parents, which shaped his global perspective on design. He left Casablanca to study art history and world cultures at the École du Louvre in Paris. In the late 1960s, he moved to New York City, where he founded a photography agency specializing in decoration and interior design, gaining renown as a photographer for lifestyle magazines during shoots in locations such as Mexico, England, Italy, and India. Pinto transitioned into interior design nearly four decades before his death, establishing his agency in a 17th-century private residence at Place des Victoires in Paris, where he employed around 60 people. His designs emphasized volumes, colors, and a cosmopolitan aesthetic influenced by his diverse early experiences.
