About
Alan H. Weisman is an American author, journalist, and educator born in Minneapolis, Minnesota. He earned a bachelor's degree in literature and a master's degree in journalism from Northwestern University. Weisman has built a multifaceted career, contributing as a contributing editor to the Los Angeles Times Magazine and working in more than 50 countries across seven continents. He held academic positions including professor of writing, journalism, and Latin American studies at Prescott College, where he served as Laureate Professor from 2004 to 2013, as well as visiting professor at Williams College and Universidad de los Andes in Bogotá. His accolades include serving as a Fulbright Senior Scholar in Colombia, writer-in-residence at the Altos de Chavón Escuela de Arte y Diseño in the Dominican Republic, and John Farrar Fellow in Nonfiction at the Bread Loaf Writers’ Conference. Weisman has been involved in radio production with Homelands Productions and taught journalism-related courses, including at the University of Arizona. He is known for investigative books such as 'Prince of Darkness: Richard Perle: The Kingdom, the Power & the End of Empire in America' (Union Square Press, 2007) and 'The World Without Us', along with contributions to various nonfiction publications.
