About
Ahmed Subhy Mansour is an Egyptian-born Islamic scholar and cleric, and the founder of the 'Quranists' movement, which rejects the authority of the Hadith and advocates for the Quran as the sole source of Islamic law and guidance. A former professor at Al-Azhar University, he was dismissed in 1987 and imprisoned in Egypt for his unorthodox religious views deemed heretical by state authorities. After seeking political asylum in the United States in 2002, he established the International Quranic Center (IQC) in Virginia and became a vocal advocate for Islamic reform, democracy, and human rights in the Middle East. He collaborates with Western think tanks and interfaith organizations to challenge radical Islamist ideologies and promote a liberal interpretation of Islam, including co-founding Americans for Peace and Tolerance with Rabbi Marc Schneier (also known as Jacobs), Professor Dennis Hale, and others.
