Adam Daniel Kinzinger (born February 27, 1978, in Kankakee, Illinois) is an American politician, former military officer, and political commentator affiliated with the Republican Party. He served as a U.S. Representative from Illinois for 12 years, initially representing the 11th congressional district from 2011 to 2013 and then the 16th district from 2013 to 2023. Prior to his congressional career, Kinzinger served in the U.S. Air Force and Air National Guard, participating in Operations Iraqi Freedom and Enduring Freedom as an officer and pilot. He graduated from Eastern Illinois University with a bachelor's degree in political science in 2000. Kinzinger gained national prominence for his outspoken criticism of former President Donald Trump, particularly in defense of democratic institutions, and co-chaired the House Select Committee investigating the January 6, 2021, Capitol attack (known as the January 6 Committee).
